According to CoinMeta, and as reported by bitcoin.com, the x402 payment protocol of the cryptocurrency trading platform Coinbase has processed approximately 14 million AI proxy transfers in the past 30 days. Of these, the Base network handled 7.3 million transfers, while the Polygon network handled 5.6 million. USDC covers almost all of these transfers. x402 adopts a mechanism known as HTTP 402 “payment required”, which enables the software to automatically request and complete payments. Coinbase has extended this payment service to the Base、Solana and Polygon networks, and also supports USDC as a settlement asset. In July, Coinbase allowed companies to directly receive USDC through Coinbase Business, and also supports receipt, reconciliation, and withdrawal. Coinbase refers to proxy payments as one of its “high-confidence bets”.
