According to CoinMeta, SEI is gradually rolling out a storage upgrade known as Eidos to restructure the way its Layer-1 network stores and verifies on-chain data, with the goal of processing 200,000 transactions per second. This upgrade is part of a three-phase architectural transformation, and the first phase of Eidos has already been launched. With the technical updates from SEI, Eidos aims to eliminate storage limitations so that the network's execution layer can achieve the desired speeds as outlined in the Giga roadmap. The migration to a dedicated database has already begun for EVM, and subsequently, FlatKV, LTHash, a new receipt storage system, and an offline archiving system will be introduced. Eidos has also changed the way SEI maintains and verifies the state of the Ethereum virtual machine, adopting FlatKV to replace the traditional Merkle tree structure in order to improve storage efficiency.
