According to CoinMeta, the surge in yields on 30-year Treasury bonds led to declines in the S&P 500 and NASDAQ amid a sell-off of bonds. On Tuesday, the S&P 500 fell 0.69% to close at 7,691.76 points, the NASDAQ Composite Index dropped 1.33%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.22%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell nearly 5%, with chip stocks such as NVIDIA and Micron being major drags on the market. The yield on U.S. 30-year Treasury bonds soared to 5.327% on Tuesday, the highest level since 2007, and the yield on 10-year Treasury bonds also briefly broke through 4.72%. This trend is not limited to the United States; Japan's 10-year Treasury bond yield reached 2.945%, a 30-year high, and government borrowing costs in several European markets also rose to levels not seen in over a decade. As investors' concerns about inflation, fiscal deficits, and increasing market debt intensify, long-term bonds have been particularly hit.
