The World Economic Forum strives to have Lagarde serve as its chairperson

According to CoinMeta, the World Economic Forum ( WEF ) is still seeking for Christine Lagarde, the Governor of the European Central Bank, to take on the role of the forum's next chairperson. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that the organization's board of directors discussed this issue at a meeting this week. Lagarde seems ready to accept the position, but she hopes to confirm that the tensions between the World Economic Forum and its founder, Klaus Schwab, have been completely resolved. For a long time, Lagarde has been considered a strong candidate for the chairmanship, and these speculations intensified after Schwab suddenly resigned in April 2025. Schwab resigned during an investigation into alleged financial misconduct, which was ultimately determined to involve no such misconduct; however, the tensions between the two parties have continued to this day.
