According to CoinMeta, prediction market operator Kalshi submitted an application to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on August 18, intending to launch a copper perpetual contract copperperp that utilizes Pyth Network price data. The contract is denominated in US dollars, settles in cash, has no expiration date, and maintains a consistent price through regular payments by long and short traders. Kalshi was previously approved to offer Bitcoin perpetual contracts in May and also submitted an application for stock index perpetual contracts. A judge in Washington state requested Kalshi to stop offering bets related to sports, elections, politics, and other events locally one week before the application was submitted.
