AI Boom drives Japan's exports, semiconductor shipments surge by 49%

According to CoinMeta, the AI craze has driven Japan's exports. In July, shipments of semiconductor equipment surged by 49.1% year-on-year, contributing to Japan's fastest export growth since October 2022, with total exports increasing by 23.2% year-on-year, exceeding market expectations. Despite the significant rise in oil import costs due to the Iran war, the strong export performance has provided important support for the Japanese economy. Japan's GDP in the second quarter grew by 0.7% year-on-year, indicating that economic growth momentum is surpassing domestic demand, and this is expected to support the yen.
