According to CoinMeta, a chip shortage in India is affecting the market performance of Chinese smartphone brands, prompting consumers to turn to high-end brands such as Apple and Samsung. As memory prices rise, Chinese phone manufacturers are forced to increase prices, with new models expected to cost between $200 and $250, compared to previous prices below $150. Market research firm IDC reported that smartphone shipments in India dropped to 64.2 million units in the first half of 2026, with sales of entry-level phones experiencing a significant decline. Meanwhile, Apple iPhone has been the device with the highest shipments for two consecutive quarters.
