According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Yonhap News, the Financial Intelligence Analysis Service of South Korea ( FIU ) has recently requested major Korean won-based cryptocurrency exchanges to submit records of legal entity accounts holding Korean won cash, fund returns, and related business preparations, in order to expand corporate participation in the cryptocurrency market. According to South Korea's previously announced roadmap, the second phase aims to allow approximately 3,500 listed companies and registered professional investor entities to pilot the trading of cryptocurrency assets, with the official implementation date yet to be determined. Regulatory authorities will also strengthen banks' review requirements regarding the purpose of transactions, sources of funds, and anti-money laundering ( AML ) measures.
