According to CoinMeta and OneMillion.AI, due to data retention policies, Microsoft has restricted its employees from using a certain model (identified by Claude Fable) internally, out of concerns regarding the data retention risks associated with a newly released model (identified by Anthropic). Although Microsoft has already launched this model to external customers (identified by GitHub Copilot and Foundry), the internal version of the selector used by employees does not include this model. Microsoft's legal team is evaluating the data retention service terms related to this model. The zero-data retention policy (identified by ZDR) introduced by Microsoft aims to address these data retention issues by allowing companies to use cutting-edge models without any data being retained. This policy is currently only in testing with a limited number of customers and is scheduled to be rolled out in September, with a technical white paper also to be released at that time.
