According to CoinMeta, despite not obtaining authorization before the July 1st deadline for MICA, Binance continued to open and verify accounts for new European customers. According to a report from Sandmark, tests showed that new users were still able to complete registration and verification after the deadline, and two accounts had been fully verified and were capable of receiving encrypted deposits. The tests covered several EU countries including Austria, France, Germany, Spain, and Belgium, using standard internet connections and virtual private networks. The report indicates that applicants did not receive any warnings informing them that Binance lacked MICA authorization. Binance stated that, despite facing regulatory challenges, it remains committed to operating in the European market and is seeking authorization through other EU member states.
