According to CoinMeta, the recent rise in Bitcoin prices has enabled MicroStrategy (NASDAQ : MSTR) to earn a profit of approximately $1.4 billion from its cryptocurrency holdings. On the morning of August 21st, the trading price of Bitcoin was $77,300, representing a 23% increase from $62,800 at the beginning of the week. The surge in Bitcoin prices occurred after the U.S. Treasury Department intervened in the bond market to lower yields, as well as after U.S. President Donald Trump called on Congress to pass the "Clarify Act" legislation. MicroStrategy currently holds 840,447 Bitcoins, with an average purchase price of $75,385, which is lower than the current price. After several months of losses, the company has now returned to profitability, with unrealized gains amounting to $1.4 billion, or 2.4%.
