According to CoinMeta, Wu said that they learned that the official team of bouncebit reported on the progress of the security incident, confirming that due to a vulnerability in the underlying evmos protocol authorization, approximately 286.5 million bb tokens were unauthorizedly transferred from 9 mainnet accounts. To completely resolve the security issue and promote the development of the industry ecosystem, the official team has decided to permanently deactivate bouncebit and chain. Starting from the snapshot before the attack (block 20,697,260), bb will be reissued as bep-20 tokens on BNB and chain. The 286.5 million tokens stolen by the attackers will be completely invalidated. Currently, users do not need to perform any actions; the new tokens will be automatically distributed to their corresponding addresses. Yesterday, bouncebit announced that due to issues found with bouncebit and chain, node operations have been suspended to deploy a fix, and bb trading and withdrawal functions have been temporarily halted.
