According to CoinMeta, Illinois' 0.2% crypto tax has sparked legal lawsuits from two major crypto trade organizations against the Illinois Department of Finance. The tax is set to take effect on January 1, 2027, and could have a significant impact on the trading, transfer, and storage of digital assets. The Blockchain Association and the Innovation in Crypto Committee filed a lawsuit in Sangamon County District Court on August 21.
