According to CoinMeta, and as reported by The New York Times, two former leaders of the Polish cryptocurrency exchange zondacrypto (formerly known as bitbay) have disappeared within a span of four years: the founders, sylwester and suszek, went missing in 2022, and their successors, przemyslaw and kral, have also been untraceable since April 16 of this year. The exchange had previously frozen customer withdrawals, and its website was shut down in April following that. kral claimed that the exchange held cryptocurrencies worth over $330 million, but stated that only the missing suszek possessed the access keys to the relevant wallets. The Polish prosecution is currently investigating zondacrypto for suspected fraud and related money laundering activities. As of June, they have received more than 3,600 reports from victims. On June 29, the Estonian financial intelligence agency revoked the virtual asset service license of the exchange's operating entity.
