The fire was quickly extinguished, but the spokesperson stated that the temporary shutdown affected crude oil unloading operations. The liza oil field is key to Guyana's transformation into a major crude oil producer, with liza being responsible for producing about 250,000 barrels of crude oil out of the more than 900,000 barrels produced daily from the Stabrook block.
