Mitsubishi UFJ: Before Bessent and Walsh speak, the US dollar faces downward risks
2026-08-24 16:22:51
According to CoinMeta, Mitsubishi UFJ strategist Derek Halpenny stated in a report that the US dollar is at risk of falling before the speech by US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and the Jackson Hole Symposium held by the Federal Reserve. After the US Treasury announced an increase in the scale of long-term bond repurchases last week, Yellen may announce information regarding fiscal consolidation plans later on. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is scheduled to speak at Jackson Hole on Friday. Halpenny noted that Powell may continue to release fewer signals regarding future policies, and if credible fiscal consolidation measures are not announced by then, the long end of the bond market could be particularly affected.
