According to CoinMeta, space stocks, including SpaceX ( SPCX ) and AST SpaceMobile ( ASTS ), fell by 3% each after the market sold off in response to Trump's memo on 1,000 launches. President Donald Trump signed a memo aimed at significantly increasing the number of commercial space launches in the United States, instructing government agencies to find federal land for new launch and re-entry sites. The White House hopes to achieve at least 1,000 launches and re-entries per year by 2030, a significant increase from last year's 178. In addition, Trump also hopes to send American astronauts back to the moon before 2028. The memo instructs NASA to promote commercial transportation to the moon and commercial robotic missions to Mars, as well as to explore commercial pathways for sending humans to Mars. Michael Kratsios, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, stated that this new national space transportation policy "fits this moment of explosive growth and puts the United States in a leading position in the next space era."
