Bitcoin gains 3%, approaching $80,000

According to CoinMeta, Bitcoin rose 3.1% on Tuesday, closing at $79,739 and approaching the $80,000 mark. This increase was fueled by $1.92 billion in capital inflows into spot Bitcoin and an improved risk appetite, continuing the cryptocurrency's rebound. Last week, Bitcoin rose more than 20% in three days, recording the largest three-day gain since 2023. The rebound was partly driven by short squeeze, with over $4 billion in bearish positions being liquidated. The U.S. Treasury Department announced that it would double its purchases of long-term government bonds, driving down yields and restoring demand for risky assets. Although there are doubts about the sustainability of this breakthrough, Fundstrat pointed out that the subsequent buying after last week's short squeeze indicates that Bitcoin's rebound may be more sustainable.
