The $5 deal with OpenCode has been taken advantage of: Removed from sale in the first month due to abuse at half price
2026-08-25 13:11:10
According to CoinMeta, co-founder Dax Raad stated that due to the large amount of abuse resulting from the initial $5 discount in the first month, the team was forced to cancel it. New users now subscribe starting from $10. Previously, some users reported on GitHub that even after canceling their subscription to the Go package and reactivating it through a different payment channel, they were still charged only $5, leading them to suspect that the discount benefits were not fully linked to their accounts, allowing existing users to repeatedly enjoy the new user pricing. In addition, some account sellers obtained the $5 discount by registering multiple accounts in bulk and then resold them through API. Dax mentioned that the team still wants to retain the new user discount, but needs to redesign it in a way that is less prone to abuse.
