Fabian Asset Management: Global government bond yields rise in tandem; low liquidity may be one of the reasons

According to CoinMeta, Daniel Morris, the chief market strategist for asset management at BNP Paribas, stated that recently global government bond yields have risen in tandem, prompting investors to urgently seek the reasons behind this trend. While most market headlines attribute it to rising inflation and concerns about the sustainability of government debt, low market liquidity in August may also be one of the explanatory factors. He pointed out that since the outbreak of conflicts in the Middle East, rising oil prices and the resulting inflation have been key factors, but the importance of oil prices has diminished over the past few weeks. Given the lower market liquidity, he cautioned against over-analysing the current situation, as yields could fall back as market participants gradually return to normal trading.
