According to CoinMeta, the latest meeting minutes released by the Swedish Central Bank on Tuesday show that if inflation, which was higher than expected this summer, proves to be persistent, interest rates may still be raised later this year. Previously, at its most recent meeting, the bank decided to maintain interest rates at 1.75%. The Governor of the Swedish Central Bank, Stefan Ingves, stated, "I judge that our next policy rate adjustment will need to be a raise. However, the timing of that raise is still uncertain at present." Overall inflation levels are low, at only 0.7% year-on-year in July. Although economic growth has picked up, corporate pricing plans remain modest, oil prices have fallen from their highs, and the labor market remains weak. Nevertheless, overall inflation has been boosted by temporary tax cuts during an election year, and potential price pressures have been higher than expected during the summer. In addition, conflicts in the Middle East could continue to spread, leading to price increases within Sweden.
