According to CoinMeta, Anthropic, the development company of Claude, announced that they have redone the streaming renderers for both the web and desktop versions of Claude, which are responsible for continuously displaying the content generated by the models on the screen. Officials claim that the smoothness of long replies has improved by about 4 times, lag on slower computers has been reduced by about 9 times, and the most severe freezing times have been shortened by about 4.5 times. The new version only updates the content that is still changing on the screen, avoiding the need to redraw the entire reply repeatedly. During the demonstration, a 120Hz MacBook was able to maintain 120fps from the start to the end of the generation process. As early as 2024, users reported that copying, typing, and scrolling after long conversations would cause lag for several seconds, and in May of this year, there were still complaints about a delay of about 5 seconds in long chats on the desktop version.
