According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Bloomberg, Binance has hired two senior compliance officers from Crypto.com to strengthen its compliance team. Antonio Alvarez will serve as the deputy to Binance, the Chief Compliance Officer, while Duncan Deville will take on the role of Global Financial Crime Compliance Officer. Both individuals previously worked at Crypto.com and have experience in compliance with institutions such as Coinbase, Visa, Western Union, as well as the U.S. Treasury Department. This personnel adjustment comes amidst the backdrop of more than a dozen compliance staff members leaving Binance over the past year and the company continuously facing regulatory scrutiny. In 2023, Binance reached a $4.3 billion settlement agreement with U.S. judicial authorities for failing to maintain an effective anti-money laundering compliance system, and since then, the company has continued to strengthen its compliance framework.
