Robot startup Generalist raises nearly $200 million in financing, with a valuation of $3 billion

According to CoinMeta, and as reported by TechCrunch, robotics startup Generalist has received an additional round of financing of nearly $200 million led by 8VC, raising its post-investment valuation to $3 billion. This funding is an extension of the $400 million Series B round led by Radical Ventures in June, bringing the total amount raised in this series to $600 million. Generalist was founded in 2024, and its founding team includes former Google DeepMind researchers Pete Florence and Andy Zeng, as well as former Boston Dynamics engineer Andrew Barry. The company is developing a AI base model that is compatible with various robots, and its latest Gen 1.5 model enables robots to learn and complete new tasks through 3 to 12 seconds of video demonstrations.
