TSMC accelerates its transition to renewable energy, with electricity consumption expected to reach 28.77 billion kilowatt-hours by 2025

According to CoinMeta, TSMC ( TSM ) stated in its latest sustainability report that as the demand for artificial intelligence and advanced chips drives global business expansion, the company is accelerating its transition to renewable energy. It is estimated that by 2025, TSMC's electricity consumption will reach 28.77 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 12.6%, which is approximately one-tenth of Taiwan's annual electricity consumption. TSMC's goal is to increase the proportion of renewable energy in its global operational electricity consumption to 60% by 2030, compared to 20.1% in 2025. The company has also set targets to achieve 100% use of renewable energy by 2040 and net-zero emissions by 2050.
