Anthropic Requires Employees to Work from Home Due to Security Issues; Whether Workers Will Go on Strike Remains to Be Verified
2026-08-26 14:58:50
According to CoinMeta, due to an early warning from the security contractor Allied Universal about a possible strike, Anthropic decided to have all employees at its San Francisco office work from home on Monday and Tuesday. The union stated that they did not issue any strike notice nor conduct a strike authorization vote. The two parties have been negotiating a new contract since April, with the union demanding higher wages, improved medical benefits, and additional security training. The caution of Anthropic also stems from recent security incidents, including a man who followed employees into the company lobby claiming to want to kill executives, as well as other threatening events.
