MSCI Potential new regulations may eliminate Strategy, affecting its Bitcoin purchase financing
2026-08-26 20:29:39
According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Bloomberg, MSCI is considering removing companies that are primarily engaged in asset accumulation rather than operational business from global stock indices. If this method is applied based on data from May of this year, Strategy, Metaplanet, and Yellow Cake would be removed. Strategy has so far funded the purchase of over $60 billion worth of Bitcoin by issuing securities. The potential exclusion from indices could reduce the investor base, weaken demand for stocks, and increase the difficulty for Strategy to continue financing Bitcoin purchases.
