According to CoinMeta, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan plans to invite some top international asset management institutions from Wall Street to jointly explore potential options for investing in the country's foreign exchange reserves. In an interview in Tashkent, Central Bank Governor Timur Ishmetov stated that the bank is preparing to hold a roundtable meeting in mid-September, inviting representatives from institutions such as Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, and JPMorgan Chase to discuss potential investment channels. According to official data, Uzbekistan's central bank reserves decreased from $66.3 billion at the beginning of the year to $64.3 billion in July, with gold accounting for 87% of those reserves. Data from the World Gold Council shows that Uzbekistan purchased 41 tons of gold in the first half of this year, making it the world's second-largest gold buyer during that period. Ishmetov noted that gold has proven to be the best investment, but this may not always be the case, as gold prices are not expected to keep rising indefinitely. The central bank hopes to sell gold at favorable prices but has not yet decided to change the composition of its reserves.
