According to CoinMeta, Japan plans to advance the tokenization settlement infrastructure for stocks and Japanese government bonds based on blockchain. Japan's financial regulatory agency, the Bank of Japan, and major financial institutions are collaborating on this tokenization project, with work expected to begin in early 2027, and the new on-chain system is anticipated to be operational by the early 2030s. Meanwhile, nearly 80% of Japanese institutional investors plan to allocate cryptocurrencies within three years. The Bank of Japan is also expanding its blockchain settlement network and advancing the plans for its central bank digital currency (_CBDC).
