According to CoinMeta, as reported by Nikkei News, Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology plans to apply for a budget of 23.5 billion yen (about 148 million US dollars) in the fiscal year 2027 to enhance the launch capabilities of its main H3 rocket, which is an increase of about eight times compared to the 2.9 billion yen in the fiscal year 2026. The additional funds will raise the annual launch capacity of H3 from three launches in 2025 to six to eight launches, and the minimum interval between two launches will be reduced from about two months to two weeks, in order to attract the overseas satellite launch demand currently dominated by SpaceX. The total budget applied for by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology for aerospace and aviation research and development in the fiscal year 2027 will reach 375 billion yen, a significant increase from 151.3 billion yen in the fiscal year 2026.
