Starkware Proposes a Quantum-Secure Bitcoin Solution; First Transaction Confirmation Completed on the Mainnet
2026-08-27 09:49:16
According to CoinMeta, the quantum-safe Bitcoin (Qubitcoin) solution proposed by researcher Avihu Levy has completed transaction confirmation on the Bitcoin mainnet for the first time. This solution does not require a soft fork or modification of existing consensus rules; instead, it uses an additional locking mechanism based on hash functions to shift the security of transactions from elliptic curve cryptography to resistance to hash collisions and anti-image capabilities, in order to reduce the risks associated with future cracking of the public key cryptography system by Shor algorithms. Currently, Qubitcoin is still an experimental solution, with a single offline computation cost of several hundred dollars, and its transaction format is not standard. Transactions must be submitted directly to miners through channels such as Mara Slipstream.
