According to CoinMeta, the co-founder of Dune and also CEO Fredrik Haga stated that Dune will adjust the free plan to allow only viewing of dashboard. Users who wish to perform on-chain data queries will need to upgrade to a paid plan, with current self-service plan prices being $65 and $349 per month, respectively. Haga mentioned that the reason is the high computational cost associated with performing flexible queries on large-scale on-chain data. Dune has been providing computing resources and data access to free users for many years, but as the business matures, the company is shifting more resources towards enterprises, financial institutions, and AI with their paid data needs. Dune also shut down the SIM product this year and stated that they will refocus on the core on-chain data platform.
