According to CoinMeta, OpenAI recently held a closed-door preview of Astra, inviting executives from dozens of key clients to the newly inaugurated MB0 office building in San Francisco. Altman just returned from Washington, where they had previously introduced Astra to American officials. Two capabilities were demonstrated on-site: first, 16 AI can independently break down research-level math problems and coordinate their solutions; second, Astra allows for rapid switching between multiple common desktop software applications, enabling the creation and modification of content. Altman stated that Astra will bring "virtual colleagues" that can work continuously for long periods and enable the implementation of experimental ideas within OpenAI's codebase, completing what would have previously taken human researchers a week to accomplish. He believes that Astra will be the first model to truly invent something meaningful new.
