According to CoinMeta, Australian companies reduced their investments over the three months ending in June, with a decline in data center expenditures being the main reason for the slowdown in investment. Data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics shows that corporate investment in the second quarter was nearly A$51 billion (about $37 billion), a decrease of 3.6% compared to the first quarter. Expenditures on data centers and other information technology fields fell by nearly a third from the record levels set in the first quarter. However, compared to the same period last year, corporate investment still grew by nearly 11%, mainly driven by a surge in data center investment of nearly 80%, highlighting the strong momentum of this industry as a driver of economic activity in Australia. For the 2026-27 fiscal year, corporate investment intentions have risen to A$200.7 billion, an increase of 15.5% from the forecast three months ago, also supported by artificial intelligence and renewable energy projects.
