According to CoinMeta, Vice Governor of the Bank of Japan, Ryosuke Hino, stated that policymakers will discuss the pace and timing of further interest rate hikes at each meeting in order to stabilize potential inflation around 2%. The market currently expects a nearly 90% likelihood of an interest rate hike at the meeting on September 17-18. Japan's policy interest rate has reached its highest point in 31 years at 1%, and if another 25 basis points are raised, it will go up to 1.25%. Currently, Japan's key indicators are: - Wholesale inflation: +7.2% - Core inflation: 1.8%, up from the previous 1.6% - USD/Yen: 159.35. Hino mentioned that the timing and pace of interest rate hikes will also take into account foreign exchange fluctuations, demand related to AI, and the risks brought about by conflicts in the Middle East.
