According to CoinMeta, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has warned that fraud related to cryptocurrencies has surged, with expected losses exceeding $388 million in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 58%. The CFTC stated that scammers are using cryptocurrencies, gift cards, unfamiliar applications, and delivery services to induce victims to transfer funds, and reminded the public that government agencies, legitimate financial institutions, or credible companies will not request users to make transfers via cryptocurrencies, gift cards, or through such delivery services.
