According to CoinMeta, Primož Doronts, a member of the European Central Bank’s Management Committee, stated that there are sufficient reasons for a rate hike next month, and the data from December will further help in assessing future inflation trends. He mentioned at Jackson Hole that recent economic growth has exceeded expectations, and energy costs remain high. Doronts also noted that the latest developments regarding the Iran war do not indicate any significant improvement in the situation. He pointed out, “There are indeed reasons for a rate hike in September to ensure we achieve our inflation targets. As new data is released, we see that the inflation situation will not resolve on its own.” He hinted that if a decision to raise rates again is made next month, the final meeting of the year would be a good time to re-evaluate the situation, and said, “By December, we will have a new set of economic forecasts for the next three years, as well as a clearer understanding of developments in other areas, which will help us better define the medium-term inflation trend.”
