Chelsea Football Club secures a stablecoin sponsor
2026-08-29 02:04:06
According to CoinMeta, Chelsea Football Club has announced a sponsorship agreement with the stablecoin issuer Circle. The USDC stablecoin will be featured on the jerseys of Chelsea players. This collaboration came after the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK warned the club about engaging in sponsorship deals with unauthorized financial companies, including crypto firms. The FCA’s warning letter mentioned that these unauthorized companies might use sponsorship deals to target football fans and could potentially violate UK financial services laws. Circle noted that USDC stablecoins are legally used in the UK, although legislators are working to establish a comprehensive regulatory framework for digital assets.
