According to CoinMeta, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) ordered Gabriel Perez, a former White House teleprompter operator, to pay $172,539 this Friday for engaging in illegal trading on a prediction platform by using advance access to Trump's speech content. Under a settlement agreement reached with the CFTC, Perez is required to return the illegal profits of $107,539.02 and pay a civil fine of $65,000. He also agreed to a three-year trading ban and pledged to stop violating the Commodity Exchange Act and related regulations. The CFTC stated that between December 2025 and February 2026, while working at the White House, Perez traded Trump "market-related" contracts on a certain platform. These contracts are event-based, with compensation determined by whether the president used specific words or phrases in his speeches.
