Galaxy Research: 6 dormant Bitcoin wallets transferred 553.59 BTC
2026-08-29 13:23:28
According to CoinMeta, data from Galaxy Research shows that six Bitcoin wallets that had not been active since 2011 to 2014 transferred a total of 553.59 BTC between August 16th and 26th, worth approximately 40 million US dollars. One of these wallets had been inactive for over 15 years. Five of the wallets transferred BTC to addresses not associated with any known exchanges, while another wallet sent 40 BTC to the German cryptocurrency custody and trading service provider Boerse Stuttgart Digital. Therefore, these transfers do not necessarily imply a sale. Alex Thorn, the head of research at Galaxy Digital, stated that the on-chain activity of dormant Bitcoins in the second quarter of this year dropped to the lowest level since the third quarter of 2022, and it is expected that the total amount transferred throughout 2026 will be less than half of that of last year.
