According to CoinMeta, on August 29, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi stated that the external power supply to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant had been interrupted for over a week, and currently, emergency diesel generators are being used to maintain the electricity required for nuclear safety and security. The agency warned that if the external power supply or diesel replenishment cannot be restored in the near future, the plant may face a risk of complete power outage in about 10 days. The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant reported that their current diesel reserves are sufficient to last for about 10 days of operation, which meets the minimum regulatory requirements. The IAEA mentioned that the last diesel fuel supply to the plant was in March of this year, and subsequent supplies scheduled for May were postponed due to frequent local military activities.
