According to CoinMeta, under U.S. sanctions and maritime blockades, Iran has seen a significant decline in trade. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said that the trade reduction ranges between 25% and 35%, with exports decreasing, but imports declining even more. On Friday, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called for enhanced economic self-sufficiency in a written statement, emphasizing the key role of economic growth and a gradual reduction of dependence on the dollar. Meanwhile, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen launched a sanctions campaign called "Economic Isolation Actions," aimed at cutting off Iran's economic ties. Iran's crude oil exports have also plummeted due to U.S. economic pressure, with crude oil shipments in August dropping by more than 80% compared to 1.7 million barrels per day in August 2025.
