This move comes against the backdrop of EIP-8130 emerging as a competing design, which is planned to go live on Base in September, raising concerns about standard fragmentation between Ethereum’s L1 and L2. Developers are working towards a shared transaction standard that retains the flexibility of L1 while allowing for performance optimizations and resistance to DOS attacks, with the goal of achieving interoperability among accounts within the Ethereum ecosystem.
