The highest-ranking officials of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as four-star generals responsible for overseeing U.S. military operations in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, have made these warnings to Hagel in detail. The relevant content is included in the August 14 edition of the "Defense Secretary's Order Book." Sources said that the order book on August 14 required some U.S. troops deployed in the Middle East to remain there until at least September, while other units would be stationed there until 2027. The possibility of further extending the deployment periods for these troops has prompted military leaders to express their concerns. Individuals familiar with the assessment stated that the heads of the U.S. European Command, U.S. Pacific Command, and U.S. Southern Command, as well as the top naval officer, all gave what is referred to in SDOB as a "disagree" response, meaning they do not agree with the Defense Secretary's order to extend the deployment of their respective units, but they will still carry out the orders.
