According to CoinMeta, oil prices rose by more than 1% on Monday due to a U.S. military attack on Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island. International benchmark Brent crude oil November futures rose 1.54% to $89.46 per barrel, and U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude oil October futures rose 1.44% to $84.60 per barrel. Tim Hawkins, a captain in the Navy and spokesman for the U.S. Central Command, confirmed that the U.S. military attacked two Iranian launch sites on Sunday, resulting in several Iranian soldiers being killed or injured. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated that they had carried out retaliatory attacks on U.S. military bases in Jordan. Ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has been severely disrupted due to the conflict in the Middle East, which has lasted for six months. Analyst Thomas Varga said that supply risks will continue, and oil inventories are expected to decline in the coming weeks and months. Goldman Sachs noted in a report that attacks on refineries in the Middle East and Russia have further limited global refining capacity, driving refining product profit margins to new highs.
