According to CoinMeta, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry plans to apply for a record budget of 7.8 trillion yen (approximately $49 billion) to accelerate investment in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and other strategic industries. This budget application will cover the fiscal year starting in April 2027 and reflects reforms to Japan's budget preparation process. Of this amount, 6.31 trillion yen is planned to be used for investments under the "Strong and Prosperous Japan" category, including about 2 trillion yen for artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and robotics; 680 billion yen for ensuring the supply of key minerals; 220 billion yen for enhancing naphtha supply capacity; and 180 billion yen for cooperation with the Ministry of Defense to improve defense capabilities.
