According to CoinMeta, Cosmos Labs revealed that attackers exploited a critical vulnerability in Cosmos EVM from August 20th to 25th, conducting cross-chain attacks that resulted in damages to MANTRA, TAC, and KiiChain, resulting in losses of approximately $5.72 million. The vulnerability was first reported through their bug bounty program on April 25th, but developers were unable to reproduce it and thus assumed that user funds were safe. The vulnerability was fixed in a merge in May, but network operators were not informed about it. After the attack, MANTRA suffered the most severe damage, losing 7.209 million MANTRA tokens, valued at around $3.6 million. Attackers took advantage of an integer overflow vulnerability, which caused abnormal token balances. Cosmos Labs recommended that affected networks stop operating before August 22nd, but by that time, MANTRA, TAC, and KiiChain had also been attacked.
