According to CoinMeta, European Central Bank officials are concerned about U.S. government intervention in the foreign exchange market and the U.S. Treasury bond market, and express dissatisfaction with the U.S. Treasury Department's failure to notify in advance of the intervention in the foreign exchange market on August 1st. U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen expanded the scale of long-term U.S. Treasury bond repurchases, sparking concerns among European officials about the ambiguity of policy boundaries. European officials warn that the U.S. government is using financial tools for economic and trade objectives, and the market questions the independence of the Federal Reserve's policies as well as the stability of the dollar swap mechanism. They are also worried that the U.S. government may be putting pressure on the Federal Reserve to intervene in the U.S. Treasury bond market. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell has recently strengthened communication with European policymakers.
