According to CoinMeta, the arbitrator ruled that the cryptocurrency exchange Gemini did not mislead users during the collapse of its Earn lending program and is not responsible for the collapse. The claim was filed by a user later in 2024, but the ruling found that there was not sufficient evidence to prove that Gemini lied to its customers or failed to fulfill its reasonable due diligence obligations. Launched in 2021, Earn allowed users to earn up to 7.4% annual interest by lending cryptocurrencies. Gemini suspended withdrawals from the Earn program in November 2022, causing dissatisfaction among over 300,000 users. Subsequently, the New York Attorney General also sued Gemini regarding the Earn program and reached a settlement of $50 million with the company in 2024. To this day, there are still more than a dozen disputes ongoing against Gemini.
