GameStop 2026 Q2 Preliminary Results: Declining Sales, Rising Profits
2026-08-31 22:02:33
According to CoinMeta, GameStop released its preliminary financial results for the second quarter of 2026 on Monday. Net revenue ranged between $290 million and $310 million, up from $168.6 million in the same period last year, although net sales decreased from $972.2 million to $780 million to $800 million. Net revenue reflected a net income of approximately $238 million from eBay derivative assets and equity investments, but this was partially offset by losses of about $75 million on digital assets. Operating revenue is expected to be between $150 million and $170 million, compared to $66.4 million in the same period last year. Reasons for the decline in sales include the release of Nintendo Switch 2 last year, planned store closures, and the divestiture of the French business. GameStop is expected to release its full financial results on September 8th. The company has also revised its plan to exchange approximately $1.4 billion in convertible bonds for Class A common stock; bondholders will receive about 55.5 million shares of common stock and approximately $358.4 million in cash, with the exchange expected to be completed on September 3rd. GameStop shares rose by 5% in pre-market trading.
